Mouton Cadet Rouge is made from a blend of classic grape varieties, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Merlot brings roundness and ripe red fruit flavours, Cabernet Sauvignon the tannic structure and touches of black berry fruit, and Cabernet Franc elegance and freshness.
Tasting Notes: An intense vermilion red with a slight crimson tint. The nose opens on aromas of ripe fruit such as Burlat cherry. Airing brings black fruit notes to the fore, especially blackberry, Burlat cherry and bilberry, along with a touch of mild spice. A rich and smooth attack which expresses all the fruit on the nose leads into a full mid-palate with hints of cinnamon and a round, powerful finish on substantial and very well-rounded tannins.
