Product description

A wine that enhances the pleasant fragrance of pure Sangiovese, a historic variety of Montalcino. The vineyards located on calcareous-clayey soils give life to a fresh, mineral and highly drinkable Rosso di Montalcino.

Pian delle Vigne estate, located 6 km. to the south-west of Montalcino, it takes its name from the locality of the same name on which there is a characteristic 19th-century railway station. The company consists of 184 hectares, of which 65 are vineyards facing south-east at an altitude of about 130 meters above sea level. Pian delle Vigne represents the personal and profound interpretation of the Marquises Antinori of a prestigious and traditional wine such as Brunello. The company has been owned by the Antinori family since 1995, the year of the first harvest of the Brunello Pian delle Vigne.

Vinification: Upon arrival in the cellar, the grapes were de-stemmed, softly pressed and transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a temperature of 25 ° C, which took about 8-10 days. At the end of the malolactic fermentation, the wine began its refinement period lasting about 10 months.

Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino DOC has a lively ruby red color. On the nose, notes of small red fruits, such as currants and raspberries, are combined with floral nuances, of dog rose and lavender, and sensations of candied cedar. On the palate it is fragrant, with lively tannins that accompany a long, vibrant and savory finish.
