Malt Special Releases is an annual limited edition collection that includes prestigious, premium Scotch whiskies with the cask strength of the first legendary distilleries.

Activated through an on-pack QR code, a multi-sensory experience begins with a narration of the cask-strength Single Malts’ tale. Enthusiasts are then guided through a mixed reality tasting experience, designed to captivate their senses and bring a taste of Scotland to their homes.

According to popular legend, eight mysterious creatures protected the ancient strongholds of our world, guarding the precious secrets of Scottish distilleries.

This year, the mythical creatures of the distilleries come back to life through the new Special Releases collection!

Oban 12 y.o.

Appearance: Bright, pale gold.

Body: Medium.

Nose: Mellow, with maritime top notes of crispy seaweed, crystal salt and coarse black pepper accompanied by lightly smoked fillets of white fish. After a while a spoonful of sweet chilli sauce is added to the platter while with a drop of water, light olive oil becomes the top note.

Palate: Very smooth, soft and mouth-filling in texture, the taste is fruity and lightly citrus-sweet, balanced by a pinch of salt mid-palate and an insistent yet never overpowering spiciness from the casks. The effect is lush and vigorous, with a great balance between crunchy wood spice and fresh, fruity distillery character. 

Finish: Quite long, finishing spicy with a shake of pepper.
