Escudo Rojo is a fine blend of traditional grape varieties grown in our own vineyard and in rigorously selected parcels by our partners. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah and Cabernet Franc grapes are selected by our technical team and vinified in the Baron Philippe de Rothschild Maipo Chile bodega. Year after year, that subtle combination yields a round, complex and concentrated wine with attractively expressive fruit.
Tasting notes Aspect : An attractive, dense, bright and deep ruby red.
Nose : The powerful, complex and generous nose opens on intense black berry fruit notes, going on to develop black cherry, blackcurrant and fresh spice aromas subtly combined with smoky, roast coffee notes.
Palate : A rich, powerful and succulent attack leads into a packed and smooth midpalate underpinned by an elegant and stylish tannic structure. It then reveals all its aromatic complexity, resulting from a harmonious combination of blackberry, blackcurrant and wild bilberry flavours with notes of black pepper and moccha, rounded off by touches of toast. The powerful and stylish attack reveals all the character of the Chilean terroir, perfectly combining the elegance of Cabernet with the roundness and powerful flavours of Syrah and Carmenere. Menu suggestions Glazed duck breast with spices and Sichuan pepper, braised shoulder of lamb, chocolate cake.
