Product description

La Masia means 'The Farmhouse' in Catalonia, the home region of the great producer Miguel Torres. Thus, the winery in Sonoma County, California, could only be designed along the standards of a typical Catalan farm.

Vineyard: The Don Miguel vineyard, named after the father of the Torres family, is located in Green Valley - the coolest, foggiest area of the Russian River, just ten miles from the Pacific Ocean. Planted in a European-style high density of over 2,000 vines/acre, yields are low and require labor, but the vines live longer and the grapes gain better balance and greater concentration, as well as more elegance and finesse.

Vinification: The grapes were harvested from 31 August to 8 September, separated by hand and fermented in small stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, 32% new. It was bottled, without filtration, in August 2018.

Tasting Notes: Cherry and blackberry aromas on the nose with soft notes of clove and orange peel. On the palate, velvety and elegant, with a long aftertaste. Well-integrated oak and silky tannins promise longevity.

Paired with: Butterflied lamb, chargrilled steak, venison. Dishes like cassoulet or duck with olives if they’re more rustic. Roast goose. Coq au vin where the sauce is made with pinot noir. Glazed ham. Roast turkey. Brie and similar cheeses. Milder blue cheeses such as Gorgonzola dolce.

Served at: 14 - 16°C.

Ageing: 10-15 years from harvest.
