Product description

Vineyard: First made in 1959, Bin 28 is named after the famous Barossa Valley Kalimna Vineyard purchased by Penfolds in 1945 and from which the wine was originally sourced. Today, Bin 28 is a multi-region blend (Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Padthaway, Upper Adelaide, and Wrattonbully), with the Barossa Valley always well represented.

Vinification: Following the harvest in mid-March and once the fermentation is complete, the Bin 28 Kalimna Shiraz 2017 is aged 12 months in American oak barrels.

Tasting Notes: Purple red on the sight, while the nose is dominated by aromas of gooseberries, raspberries and licorice. The bouquet is framed by sandalwood, dried mushrooms, dark chocolate and tobacco. In the mouth it is structured, with strong tannins and intense presence of American oak with notes of vanilla and eucalyptus.

Paired with: Greek roasted leg of lamb with potatoes, beef and orzo casserole - Giouvetsi and game.

Served at: 16°C.

Aging potential:  Drinking well now and improving until 2034.
