Product description
In 1996, GAJA bottled its first vintage using fruit sourced from these vineyards and classified it as Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, with the proprietary name Conteisa.

Lying on the western side of the Barolo-Alba road, where Tortonian (as opposed to Helvetian) soils create expressions of Nebbiolo that will reveal more fruit in their youth, GAJA’s rows in the famed Cerequio cru produce a wine known for its floral and red berry and red fruit notes, wit hints of licorice and spices.

Appellation: Langhe Nebbiolo D.O.C.

Varieties: 92% Nebbiolo, 8% Barbera.

Vineyard: Conteisa (located in La Morra/Barolo district).

Fermentation: With the skins in stainless steel (3 weeks).

Aging: 12 months in barriques, 18 months in large oak casks.

Tasting notes: Whereas Sperss is usually more massive and tannic, the Nebbiolo in Conteisa reflects the essence of the Cerequio terroir-expressive, floral nose with notes of red berries, plums, licorice and spices; sumptuous texture and a very refined character with perfectly integrated tannins.
