In Santorini, when someone was talking about the oldest vineyard of the Argyros Estate, they used the expression : “ Monsignori vineyard”.
This is the vineyard of Episkopi – the oldest on the island, cultivated by the Argyros Estate for more than two centuries. Estate Argyros Cuvée Monsignori is produced from vines over 200 years old.
This wine is a pure expression of its terroir, showing all the characteristics of the Assyrtiko variety, made with an absolute respect to tradition, coupled with the special Argyros touch in viticulture and vinification.
Ploughing is made by mules and vines are meticulously pruned. Here we have a very strict selection of the grapes during the harvest and an even tighter selection of the wine during vinification.
The label shows a sketch of the old cellar dating back to 1800, where Argyros family has been making wine, long before Estate Argyros was founded as a trading company in 1903.
