A family love story becomes the inspiration for the birth of the modern Greek vermouths Veroni Dry and Veroni Rosso.
Veroni was the wife of Kostakis Nitsiotas, uncle of Yannis Boutaris, who took over the Boutaris winery in the interwar years. Known for her love of vermouth, Veroni used to lose herself on the slopes of Mount Vermio, picking herbs.
Stelios Boutaris revives vermouth, bringing it to today, with an old-fashioned drink becoming fashionable again and acquiring an active role in the most sophisticated cocktails and premium aperitifs of the new generation!
Vermouth Dry Veroni is the result of the marriage of white wine from Xinomavro variety (blanc de noir) from Naoussa, with the extract of herbs collected from Mount Vermio. The extract is first cooled and filtered and then left in stainless steel tanks for at least 2 months.
Vermouth Dry Veroni
Medium lemon color, of medium intensity in appearance. Complex aromas on the nose, with botanicals playing the leading role - rosemary, sage, chamomile. The bouquet finishes with citrus peel, louis, mint and thyme. On the palate it is semi-dry with the acidity making its presence felt and the well-integrated alcohol pleasantly succeeding the herbal characteristics. The finish is long and is dressed with pleasant notes of bitter orange and quinine.
