Flagship of the Massenez brand, the Prisoner Pear is fascinating due to both its quality of taste and scent, and its pear-shaped bottle, encasing the pear inside.
The bottle is simply placed onto the pear tree when it is flowering... Then the fruit grows inside the bottle until it is ripe, when the fruit and the bottle are delicately picked from the tree. This rigorous process requires all of the joint expertise of the fruit farmers and the Master Distiller.
Every year, climatic variations and quirks of nature give each bottle its unique character.
The Massenez Williams Pear Eau-de-Vie won the only gold medal at the World Spirits Competition in Canada, in 2011 & 2012!
Tasting notes by the jury of Sommeliers International, at a Tasting Prestige for Vinexpo Tokyo in 2016:
Appearance: pale, brilliant, clear.
Nose: lingering, sharp, exuberant, with beautiful density.
Palate: complex, harmonious, delicate, round. With pleasant notes of fresh fruit. Well balanced, opulent.
A long, flavorsome finish with the taste of fruit.
