Among the casks were rare single grain Scotch whiskies from five Johnnie Walker distilleries, four of which are now silent. Where the John Walker & Sons Private Collection 2015 Edition was a study in ‘rare fruit’ character, the John Walker & Sons Private Collection 2016 Edition explores the delicate art of balancing aromatic honey sweetness and soft, elusive distillery notes. It has a light fruit flavour, intense yet restrained, which perfectly highlights the gentle brightness of the rare grain whiskies. Only 8,888 decanters of the John Walker & Sons Private Collection 2016 Edition have been made. Each of these distinctive glass decanters is individually numbered, with a design that echoes the famous Johnnie Walker slanted label.
