Vinification: After the grapes are removed from the stalks and pressed, the must is fermented in keeping with traditional practices but with the use of rotating horizontal fermenting vats that assure delicate maceration of the skins. As a result, the wine takes on the colours, aromas and substances of the grapes from which it is derived. Once the vinification has been completed, the wine is racked into oak barrels for maturation.

Tasting Notes: Bright, attractive and warm ruby-red colour. Fruity and fresh bouquet with vinous tones and well-defined scents of bitter almonds against a tenous background of wild berries.Dry on the palate with delicate and soft veining and harmonious balance. The aftertaste is highly persistent and delectably clean.

Serving Temperature: 16°-18°C.

Food-Wine Pairing: To be consumed throughout a meal, it makes a particularly fine accompaniment for all meat dishes, savoury preparations of the rural tradition and cheeses that have been aged for moderate periods.

Zonin 1821 is the name of Italy’s largest family-owned wine company and one of the most important in Europe, celebrating the diversity of Italian wine from Italy’s major wine regions. A family business and a business of families, with a passion for winemaking, and the mission to produce the highest quality Italian wine available to all wine-lovers. Having strong ties to the land for the past seven generations,the Zonins have been “Vintners since 1821”. Zonin 1821, based in Gambellara, in the heart of the Veneto Region, produces the well known Zonin label wines and is the core and support of its Estates, located in the most highly regarded winemaking regions in Italy and the US. Each Zonin 1821 winery is an independent production unit, strongly linked to its territory of belonging, and has its own vinification, aging cellar and bottling facilities on site, in order to safeguard traditions and guarantee a standard of excellence. Feudo Principi di Butera, the Sicilian Estate of the Zonin Family, is located in the DOC Riesi territory, in the province of Caltanissetta. The ancient estate comprises 320 hectares of land, of which 180 are new installations of vineyards, representing the largest investment carried out by the Zonin family, which purchased it in 1997. Once belonging to the Branciforte princes and then the Lanza of Scalea, this historic farm is equipped with the most advanced wine-making tools that allow production of world-famous wines able to express the soul and force of Sicily. Feudo Principi di Butera is a privileged terroir: the hills receive hot, strong southern light and the nearby sea breeze. This land, in the heart of Sicily, is part of a region which has recently begun to enjoy significant wine-making success and shows great potential to express itself further. The estate is one of the best in Sicily and launched Nero d'Avola and l'Insolia onto the international market; these are the island's two most representative local wines, which are grown along side the great international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Chardonnay, which have received unanimous consensus from wine critics. The estate is undergoing constant improvement to allow guests to enjoy an unique experience: there are currently restoration projects ongoing in the accommodation and tasting areas. Moreover, the wine cellar has been modernised to become more eco-sustainable and technological in order to continually improve the quality of wine.
