Mount Gay Distillery is the oldest operating distillery in the Americas.It produces rum in Barbados since 1703. It's original name was Mount Gilboa, and in 1801 renamed Mount Gay after the distillery's manager Sir John Gay Alleyne. Where Eclipse is floral and fruity, Extra Old blends significantly older barrels of mainly double pot distillates that have rounded these crisper notes into a subtler balance. The blend is then aged between 8 and 15 years in ex-american bourbon barrels.It exudes the finesse that only time can bring and offers a true taste of paradise.

Nose: Ripe apricot and banana, vanilla and raisιn.

Palate: Rich and smooth. The fruity aromas combine with vanilla, toffee and sweet spices like cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove.

Aftertaste: Very long. The oaky flavour remain in the mouth leaving a dry, yet rich and satisfying aftertaste.

"Extra Old Fashioned"
30ml Mount Gay XO
2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters
1 Teaspoon sugar
1 Orange peel
1 Orange Slice
Maraschino Cherry
In a mixing glass, lightly muddle the orange peel with the rum and the sugar. Remove the peel and add the bitters and the ice. Stir until chilled. Pour over fresh ice in an old fashioned glass and garnish with the orange slice the cherry.
